Good Shepherd Worship & Music

WORSHIP AND MUSIC

At Good Shepherd we celebrate God's love when we gather together each week for the Holy Eucharist. Through beautiful music, inspiring preaching and prayer, we enjoy God's presence, seek God's guidance, and bring our lives before Him.

Worship Ministry Opportunities: Acolytes (assist Clergy during worship), Altar Guild (prepare the altar and the church for worship), Lay Eucharistic Ministers (serve the chalice during Communion), Lectors (read scripture), Ushers, Greeters, Healing Prayer Ministers (One Sunday a month, pray with people after they receive Communion). For information regarding any of these worship ministries, please contact Fr. Craig MacColl.

Music Ministries:
ADULT CHOIR

The adult choir provides musical leadership and performs anthems of all types on Sunday mornings during the 10:15 am blended worship service. During the school year, the anthems are presented on a regular basis and on an irregular schedule during the summer. The choir also sings at special services during the year (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, and Holy Week), plus the choir leads the presentation of the Episcopal Service of Lessons and Carols during Advent. Occasionally, other musical events are offered to the community.

Membership is open to anyone desiring to sing 4 part music and be a part of this versatile musical experience. Regular attendance is encouraged but not required. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings during the school year from 7:30 - 9:00 pm in the Sanctuary. Choir warm up is every Sunday morning at 9:30 am in the Sanctuary.

Choir Director: Sara Blake (saranard@comcast.net); Music Director/Accompanist: Dr. Stephen Fiess

BELL CHOIR

Good Shepherd's Bell Choir provides musical offerings throughout the year at selected 10:15 am services. Rehearsals are every Thursday evening during the school year from 6:30-7:30 pm in the chapel.

Membership is open to anyone who can read either the bass clef or the treble clef. No experience required. Bells are a percussion instrument; so if you need a fun way to handle tension - give this group a try.

Choir Director: Sara Blake (saranard@comcast.net)

CONTEMPORARY MUSIC GROUPS

The contemporary music groups provide musical leadership for the 10:15 am Sunday morning blended service as well as the 6 pm Sunday evening contemporary service in the chapel. The groups primarily sing from the Good Shepherd green songbook and also share musical offerings during services.

The Sunday morning worship group "MorningSong" rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm, while the Sunday evening worship group "EveningSong" rehearses at 5 pm on Sundays prior to the 6 pm service. Both groups are open to musicians of all ages and high school youth are especially encouraged to participate. We are looking for permanent as well as guest musicians who have a passion for music and want to help serve both God and Good Shepherd.

Director: DeeDee Atwood (ematwood@msn.com)

"MEN WHO LIKE TO SING"

Also known as the "Adhoctet," the Men Who Like to Sing is a group of men from the church who enjoy the rich repertoire of acapella music for male voices. We sing periodically at the 10:15 service, at social events, and most often just for the fun of it. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 pm in the main sanctuary. Join us at the rehearsal, or contact Jono Shuster (jono@theshusters.org) for more information.
